Earth Hour: A Small Step in Saving The Planet

Earth Hour, occurred on 23 of March from 8:30pm to 9:30pm local time of the participant. Earth Hour was all about our beautiful "Blue Planet". It was about realising the potential dangers by us and by the climate change which also is related to us. A great amount of countries took part all across the world in the event. More than 150 counties from the American continent to the Far-East almost each country took part in this selfless and humble act for the Planet.

Earth hour was witnessed in places like America, Italy, France, Japan, India, Australia and many other countries. Historic and famous landmarks were also shut down or dimmed.

A project by WWF, which kicked off first in 2007 in Sydney, Australia. The event since then has grown many folds as more and more people realise the dangers we are to face if we don't think and re-think about our actions. After the first Earth Hour more than 35 countries participated. The word had really gone out great, and each year many cities started signing up. After a very magnificent and enormous response from 135 countries the global event was taken a step further. It's new sibling the Beyondthehour.org was released which shared stories of the events and motivated people more towards the betterment of their own society and the planet at large.

The event is just a beginning of what our society needs to do. Joining hands for an hour is just a stepping stone, a small initiative which gained global success. More and more steps and initiatives by environmental organisations are in future necessary to protect and conserve our Society, our Nation, our Planet.
Hats off for WWF and it's partners and for commencing such an event on a global stage. Making people realise as well as giving them responsibility in their own hands for their own protection. We hope to witness many more global events from the WWF and Earth Hour team in the coming future.

Be sure to leave some ideas on what we can do to help our Society and ultimately our Planet in the future.
